Meet ... Paty

Bushfire update 16 March 2006: We haven't seen Paty recently and really hope she is okay but as the bush has few green trees many of the Koalas are moving around in search of good food. We are monitoring the area and will keep watching for her.

Bushfire update 6 February 2006: we saw Paty after the fire and she was looking quite well. We haven't seen her since, but she has probably found a good area with green trees some distance away. We will keep searching.

We first met Paty on 16/6/2003. She looks a lot like Wilma, who lives nearby, and might be her sister or her daughter. She is so relaxed about everything, which is very like Wilma! She has lovely long fur all over, beautiful but not large ears, good bone structure and a small white scar above her right eye (on her eyelid, in fact).

Paty, like many female koalas, seems to be surrounded by other girls! Wacoo and Santa Barbara down the hill, Matilda to the north, and Wilma just across the road.

Garry Plant and Blaze are the only fellas vying for her attention - though new guys Clarence and Genghis Khan might turn her head this year if they can stick around!

She lives in an area full of Manna Gums and ancient Grass Trees on the top of the plateau. Down the slopes nearby are Messmates and Peppermints and a few Red Box trees. All in all, she has a fantastic environment that provides everything she needs (even a few handsome males live quite close by!) Named after Paty Cigaina, Italy
