Meet ... Nicola

Bushfire update 6 February 2006: we haven't seen Nicola since the fire, but we only saw her occasionally anyway, so she could have been a long way from the worst of the fire. We will watch for her.

A lovely young female - very pretty with big eyes, big fluffy ears and blonde fur! Really! .... her fur is quite golden for a koala, with lovely auburn highlights on her sides and belly. When we first met her she was quite nervous but faced us with courage.

You can see from the picture that she is sitting in a very exposed position in a dead tree, so she had nowhere to hide. But she put her chin up and handled the situation with great dignity. She is named after a little girl in the Netherlands whose dad, Paul, sent us this picture.
