Exploring the outback
The Australian Outback covers the whole continent, only excepting the major cities. With such a small population in such a huge land, the influence of people is limited to the population centres. In some cities like Melbourne, a one hour drive gets you away from people and into wild country.

Mungo Outback JourneyThe Mungo Outback Journey 3 day tour is the easiest way to get into Australia’s Outback, with it’s distinctive array of fauna and hugely significant Aboriginal History. You are Guided by a local Aboriginal custodian, working together with your Wildlife Guide.
Visit the meeting place of Australia's two great inland rivers - the Murray & the Darling - near the tiny outback town of Wentworth. Travel out of the river country and into the red sand plains to Lake Mungo, a dry lake bed sprinkled with Emus, Kangaroos and the bones of long-extinct megafauna. The area contains evidence of human occupation of over 50,000 years - the reason for its World Heritage listing.
