Joey - young Eastern Grey Kangaroo

Joeys are the carefree members of the Kangaroo mob. They are in their mothers pouch for around nine months and then spend the next about nine months suckling sometimes and getting in and out.
They become independent from around 18 months. The young females usually stay close to their mother in the extended family group - mob. The bachelor males may leave in search of their own mob when mature.
