Janine Duffy

Janine with Wilma

From childhood, Janine has been a naturally talented artist with a special empathy and love for animals. Her close relationship with animals in their natural habitat enables her to capture their individual characters in her art.
Her special passion is the Koala and she has been conducting research on wild koalas since 1996.

As a business owner and operator she needs to live in the city and has limited free time. She takes every opportunity to escape to the bush to further her research. She also has another home - a bush block near a National Park. The resident wildlife includes Kangaroos, Wallabies, Koalas and lots of native birds. The property is mostly native vegetation and the wildlife habitat is being protected and encouraged. Unfortunately she rarely has time for artwork.

Following requests for Janine's art from clients, associates and friends from around the world, Caz began reproducing her artwork and echidna creations emerged as a separate operation.
Janine developed her love of the Australian animals and bush after growing up in country Victoria and in coastal environments of Melbourne.

Her desire to travel came from the many camping trips with her family. These early experiences lead to the formation, with partner Roger Smith, of the respected nature tourism business Echidna Walkabout in 1993.

Janine has a degree in architectural planning and design.  She is also an experienced calligrapher which features on some of her prints. She is a member of Australia Koala Foundation, Wildlife Victoria, Friends of the Brisbane Ranges and Wildlife Tourism Australia.
